Today was another pretty day in Seattle, Washington; blue skies and temperatures in the sixties.
We went to the Public Market on Pike Street. We saw flying fish, smelled very fresh flowers, listened to street performers and walked on cobblestone streets. I tasted my first Aurora apple from the fruit and vegetable vendor. It is an absolutely wonderful yellow apple that is crisp and sweet. I also purchased some very sweet and sun warmed strawberries. I love the fresh produce in Seattle. The prices for fish at the Pikes Place Fish Market for fresh King Salmon and Halibut, were actually cheaper than what Alaska charges for the same thing and they were fresh caught, not frozen.
We then used the second of our City Passes on the Argosy hour long cruise in the Seattle Harbor (our first was the Space Needle). It was an awesome experience, sun, sea breezes, a wonderful view and we even saw some California Sea Lions sunning themselves on a mooring buoy. The crew was friendly and we had a great hour on Elliott Bay, Puget Sound.
After we went out on the water, we drove over to Gas Works Park on Lake Union. It was in the University district and there were some wonderful Craftsman homes on the way to the park. I love the Craftsman style homes. I would have loved to be an architect if I liked math more. I can appreciate the workmanship of the older style buildings much more than I can the new cookie-cutter style homes. The park was really neat with the old gas works being claimed by Mother Nature with the lake and a great view of Downtown Seattle as a backdrop.
We did manage to find and purchase a little camp trailer, it is in good shape, very clean and should do well by us to get to Austin. Tomorrow, they are predicting rain, so we may go use our third City Pass coupon at the Seattle Aquarium, but we shall see what the day brings.
Until Next Time....
